Why not combining "ambient" and "pop" to "ambient pop"? The result of this question is the project "Maridis" [mæraidis] founded in 2005 by Nico Fintzen (www.klangkraftwelten.de) and Burkhard Wehrmeyer.

Inspired by Nico’s long and successful work and assistance in ambient music and soundtracks (Blueprint, Gloomy Sunday, ZDF Tatort ...), the two musicians decided to combine atmospheric and warm ambient sounds with smooth beats and pop melodies. In 2006 the first single "Take a look" appeared on the sampler "Erotic Music Vol.2" (www.harder2play.de). "At that point the production focused more to ambient what is not so compatible to radio airplay" remembers Nico. "Only now with the beginning of the cooperation with MayaMo (www.mayamo.info) succeeded the symbiosis of ambient and pop. An equal interaction of atmospheric sounds and her warm voice. That was what we've been looking for."
